Top football from day 2 of the Otten Cup

There was plenty of top football to be had on the second day of the 65th Otten Cup, with plenty of attacking football and fantastic goals from all the teams involved. Ajax and Borussia Mönchengladbach both qualified from Group A into the semi finals, while PSV crowned their day off with a great match against Barcelona in Group B.

Ajax

Group A
Champions Borussia Monchengladbach got them selves off to a bad start yesterday after only bagging an equaliser late in the match against Ajax to claim a point. The German side was tapping out a different tune today however, brushing aside FC Twente (3-1) and Sunderland (4-0)

Ajax's day had a completely different outcome; as the Dutch side dominated the match against Sunderland, but could only manage a 1-1 draw after some sloppy finishing.

After drawing twice already, Ajax needed to win against FC Twente to secure a semi final place. The score remained level at 1-1, but with 10 minutes to play, Ajax captain Davy Klaassen popped up to score the winner, ending the at game 2-1.

BMG

Group B
After day one of the cup, Barcelona found them selves in good position to start day two. Anderlecht were the first side to face the Spaniards, which in turn produced some quality football from both sides. The Catalonian back four were put under pressure several times over the course of the game by the Anderlecht front man, but the score remained level at 1-1.

PSV had a fairly easy game to start the second day with a 3-1 victory over Sparta. However, depending on the result between Sparta and Anderlecht, PSV Eindhoven and Barcelona were both still able to qualify for the semi finals. Early on in the game, PSV took the lead, which quickly led into a brilliant 5-1 victory over Barcelona.

PSV

On the other field Sparta played against Anderlecht, and due to losing twice already had no chance of making a semi final place. This should have been good news for the Belgians, but a 2-1 victory for Sparta meant Anderlecht missed out and Barcelona made it through to a semi final place.

Tomorrow’s games see PSV play against Ajax and Borussia Mönchengladbach face Barcelona.
